Small Business Friendly Councils Program – A first for Australia

Last year’s NSW Business Chamber Red Tape Survey revealed that 41% of business respondents found their dealings with local government to be very complex.

In a bid to improve the business climate for small businesses in NSW, the State Government has adopted the Small Business Friendly Council Program which gives local councils who are willing to make small business a priority the opportunity to be formally recognized as ‘small business friendly’. It’s seen as an effort to alleviate some of the challenges revealed in the survey and encourage initiatives by councils to simplify processes and highlight engagement with small business in their area.
